About the Barclays Ball Kids Programme

Barclays Ball Kids

The Barclays Ball Kids Programme is a grass roots initiative giving kids aged 12 - 16 from around the country a chance to join the top eight singles players and doubles teams on court as Ball Kids for the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.

Each year, Regional Selection Trials are held throughout the UK to find the best Ball Kids for the event. In 2010 1,601 kids applied to become Barclays Ball Kids and in 2011 the programme received over 2,500 applicants. Approximately 100 kids will be selected from the Regional Trials to take part in the National Trial in London and from here the final group of 30 kids will be selected. The squad will then undergo a number of intensive training days to ensure that they are empowered with all the skills required to provide outstanding services to the world's top tennis players. The programme includes a series of drills designed to develop ball skills, rolling with precision and servicing player's needs.

In addition to the on court skill development, the Barclays Ball Kids Programme provides children with the opportunity to build friendships, keep fit and develop a sense of team identity and camaraderie.

Barclays Ball Kids are provided with Lacoste match and training uniforms, receive an amazing tennis goody bag, meet tennis legends and have the opportunity to be on court with the world's best tennis players.
